Bonds

Umpqua Insurance offers a broad range of bonding options including, but not limited to: Janitorial, Contractor License, Contractor Bid & Performance, Personal Representative, Probate and Court Bonds.

Umpqua Insurance has access to markets for hard to place bonds as well as preferred carriers.

Bonding is like banking.  Your credit rating is the primary consideration for a bond company in approving a request for a bond. In addition, any real property or tangible assets that help to establish your net worth are also considered.  A bond is different from insurance in that when your insurance policy responds to a situation, your insurance carrier pays on your behalf.  Bonding is a guarantee of payment to the obligee (the person the bond is in favor of) and is subject to repayment by YOU to the bonding company if the bond has to be used.  Most bond companies charge a fee based on the amount of the bond and the fee charge varies by classification of the bond.  Bond premiums are payable in full at the time of issuance and the first year term is usually fully earned.

Each bond has specific requirements that are unique to each classification.  It is important that you contact our office to discuss your particular bonding needs.

Information that is helpful in each bond inquiry is as follows:
1.  Full name of person or business to be bonded (including spouse information)
2.  Street & mailing address of named applicant
3.  Date of birth, drivers license number and Social Security numbers for each owner and their respective spouses (if any)
4.  Bond limit (what is the amount of the bond)
5.  Who is requiring the bond?
6.  For higher valued bond limits (in excess of $50,000), the company may require a personal and/or business financial statement
7.  In some cases, the bond company may also ask for a letter of credit from your bank
8.  If a special bond form was provided for your use, we need a copy.
